God has smiled down on the bowhunters once again! The 4th Annual UBNJ Golf Outing was played under beautiful conditions. This makes 4 years in a row, we’ve had the most perfect weather to play golf and the day was perfect. We had 98 golfers play this year, down from the 110 we had last year, but there were about a dozen players who sent their regrets and are looking forward to next year’s outing. All in all we had a great day.

This year we had more sponsors than ever before and that help us out tremendously! I have to thank The Black Knight Bowbenders, Zip-Pak Corporation, E-Land Title Solutions, LLC, Quality Landscaping, Summit Systems, Colorful Blend, New Jersey Archers Against Crossbows, Bent Creek 3-D Archery, Intershare Computer Services, Sonia Security Systems, Nikken Wellness Consultant, Russ Stryker, Kayak Fishing Stuff, Gerald Calabrese and the Cliffside Park Council. James Duva, Inc., Lancaster Archery Supplies, Hisco Pumps, The Sportsmen’s Center and Harry’s Army and Navy for all their support, without them we could never pull it off. As usual, my golf outing committee once again came through to ensure that everything ran smoothly, my heartfelt thanks goes out to Joan Asbaty, Maria Fidalgo, Jack Healy, Allen Insabella and Sal Spoto; I couldn’t do it without them!

Our great council members who were the official “Hole Watchers” did a great job to make sure no one cheated on the par 3 for the $5000 dollar hole in one prize and the closest to the pin hole, my thanks go to Rob Barrett, Brian Dolobacs, and Phil Habrukowich.

Finally, congratulations to our winners, who literally tore up the course, shooting a 9 under par 62, the team from the Sportsmen’s Center, Brian Sisz, Vinny Mancini, Tony Gullo, and Jose Cuevas took home the 1st place trophies. World Class Referee Eddie Cotton, better known for getting between Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis, unleashed a monster drive to win the longest drive trophy. Dave Blake won the closest to the pin trophy by being a mere 10 feet from the cup, beating several close but no cigar hopefuls including the ever tanned Pete Graziano and yours truly. Several council members are responsible for bringing me foursome, obtaining door prizes and getting us sponsors,

I wouldn’t feel right not thanking them for their help. So thanks to my fellow council members, Wayne Bishop, Tony Bretones, Doug Brown, Gerry DeCaro, Brian Dolobacs, Pete Graziano, Phil Habrukowich, Rob Schultz, Doug Stryker, Marc Weiss, and Kurt Wille. Once again the course at Cream Ridge was great, dinner and prizes after golf was a lot of fun and it was another perfect day!
